My Father's Dragon, Elmer and the Dragon, and The Dragons of Blueland by Ruth Stiles Gannett and Ruth Chrisman Gannett

The School Age children enjoy this trilogy.  Anish and Lukas especially enjoy the humor in the books, including animals that talk.  The children are also engaged by the main character, Elmer, who sets off to rescue a baby dragon!
