ITC Leadership Team
Susan received her BA in Psychology from Elmira College and MS in Early Childhood Education from Wheelock College. She has been in the Early Childhood Education field for more than 30 years starting out as a Headstart teacher in that program’s early years. Susan has been a childcare center teacher and administrator and has taught courses at Wheelock and Mass Bay colleges. She was the founding director of Children’s Hospital Child Care Center in Boston before coming to ITC in 1997.
" Childhood is a time when we develop ideas about the world, about ourselves and about our ability to solve problems and adapt to what comes along in life. I can't think of more important work than supporting children as they play, experiment and interact with others."
Kathy is a graduate of Brooks College where she received her degree in Early Education. She has a Masters degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in art from Lesley University. Kathy currently teaches part time in the School of Education at Lesley University. Kathy was a preschool and kindergarten teacher in Arlington and a substitute teacher in Acton before she started working at ITC 26 years ago.
" I really enjoy hearing and seeing the stories of children. Listening and watching (through their art) children organize their thinking and then sharing their memories, stories, questions or wonderings, never gets 'old' for me. Children are always thinking;we just need to listen and watch!"
Cindy holds a B.S. in Education from Framingham State College (1984) and an M.S. in Child and Family Studies from Wheelock College (2009). In her early years at the center, Cindy worked as a lead teacher primarily with older toddlers and preschoolers. After taking on the role of Program Coordinator in 1999, she became increasingly fascinated with younger toddlers and infants and ultimately pursued a master's degree in child develoment with a focus on birth to 3 year-olds. She considers her dual role here to be the best of both worlds ~ spending ample time with children, teachers and families directly in the classroom as a teacher and supporting the structure and organization of the program working as part of the administrative team.
This is Cindy's 26-th year at ITC.
Jennie graduated from Cornell University in 1973. She worked in the International Student Office at Cornell from 1974-1976 and then as an office supervisor for three years in Washington, DC before moving to Acton. Jennie began at ITC in 1982 as a teacher in the Young Toddler group in the afternoons and spent mornings in the office. She handles office and administrative details for the Center.
"Walking down the hall and hearing happy children at play makes me feel that I am part of a very special community."
